Smart Thinking
What is Smart Thinking?
The ability to assess and evaluate data, concepts, and arguments in a logical, rational, and unbiased manner is a key component of smart thinking, which is a cognitive process. It entails using critical thinking abilities to spot assumptions, assess the data, and reach conclusions using defensible reasoning.
Reasoning - the core of smart thinking
The process of utilizing logic and critical thinking to interpret data, draw conclusions, and address issues is known as reasoning. It entails methodically assessing the validity and dependability of arguments, evidence, and ideas.
Arguments
An argument is a statement or set of claims, known as premises, that seeks to assess the plausibility or acceptability of a conclusion.
Arguments vs Explanations
While an explanation tries to explain or clarify something, an argument tries to persuade someone of something. Additionally, while explanations typically include causes or consequences, arguments typically focus on supporting evidence. A fact and an explanation have a more reliable link than an argument and its supporting evidence, which can be refuted.
Influence of Attitude
Our own attitude is one of the essential components of efficient reasoning, analysis, and thinking. Our knowledge typically consists of the fundamental facts we are aware of and a framework or structure of broader concepts that we use to explain those facts. People are perfectly capable of learning and 'knowing' the facts, but intelligent thinkers regularly evaluate their frameworks and structures.
